Figorit + GitHub: Index Your Repos and Keep Knowledge Always Current
Install the Figorit GitHub app on the repositories you want indexed. Figorit reads your code, summarises every file, and re-syncs automatically on every push. One admin. No per-user GitHub seats.
- Install once on the organisation, pick the repos you want indexed
- Initial index in minutes, not hours
- Auto-syncs on every push so answers never go stale
- Pull request analysis with plain-English summaries
- Code experts: see who actually owns each part of the codebase
- Admin-only access; end users never need GitHub permissions
1. Install the Figorit GitHub app
From your Figorit dashboard, click 'Connect GitHub'. You'll be redirected to GitHub to install the app on your organisation. Pick the repositories you want indexed (you can change this later).
2. Wait for the initial index
Figorit reads your repositories, embeds every file, and generates summaries. Most repos finish in a few minutes; very large monorepos can take up to an hour.
3. Connect Slack (optional but recommended)
Once your repos are indexed, add the Slack integration so anyone in your workspace can ask questions. Without Slack you can still query from the Figorit web app.
4. Stay in sync automatically
Every push triggers an incremental re-index of changed files. Release notes, file summaries, and the experts view all stay current without any manual refresh.
FAQ
What permissions does the GitHub app need?
Read access to repository contents, metadata, pull requests, and commits on the repos you select. Figorit never requests write access to your code.
Do my teammates need GitHub access to use Figorit?
No. The GitHub app is installed once by an admin. Everyone else uses Figorit through the web app or Slack bot, with no GitHub account or repository permissions required.
Can I add or remove repositories later?
Yes. Open the GitHub app settings from your Figorit dashboard at any time to change which repositories are indexed. Newly added repos start indexing immediately; removed repos are purged from the index.
What about private repos and security?
Private repositories are fully supported and treated the same as public ones. Code is encrypted at rest and in transit, and your repository data is never used to train shared models.
Does Figorit work with self-hosted GitHub Enterprise?
GitHub Enterprise Cloud is supported on the Pro plan. Self-hosted GitHub Enterprise Server is available on Enterprise plans, contact us for setup.
